We are now back up to 3 chalets next season.
We have had confirmation from the new owner of the chalet in Meribel le Raffort that we can have it as normal next season. This is great news as it really has been a popular chalet over the last 4 seasons. It also means that once again we have 3 chalets to choose from.Author David Ski Hame Date2/6/2008 Category Ski Hame news Comments(0)
The winter has only just finished but we now have to get ready for next season, which this year includes a search for new chalets.
Recently we have been busy finishing off the chalets to hand back to the owners and at the same time try to organise chalets for next season. 2 of our present chalets are in the process of being sold so we are uncertain as to whether we will be able to retain them for the next ski season. This will probably mean a significant change to our line up for next winter. So far we have confirmed 2 chalets, the first is Chalet La Combe in Meribel Morel and new to us for next season is Papillon, a delightful 8 bed chalet in La Tania. See www.skihame.co.uk/ski_chalets/la_tania_papillon.htm for information on the new chalet. We hope to confirm any further additions soon and will give you details when we have them.Author David Ski Hame Date9/5/2008 Category Ski Hame news Comments(0)
An amazing end to the season in Meribel
The ski season finished here in Meribel last Sunday and it was a fantastic final week, seriously. We had a great week of weather with clear skies, frosty mornings and 2 metres of snow on the summits. Managed to ski le lac du Lou off the back of La Masse on the final day with conditions as good as you could hope for at any time of the season. Overall the winter has been great, we were busy from start to finish and the snow has been fantastic. Now if Mervyn can just sort this exchange rate business out everything will be perfect. The Altitude Festival from 5th to 20th April appeared to be a success for the first attempt, though more tourists would have been welcome. There was a great line up of comedians, djs and bands at various venues in Meribel. Anne and I got to see a few of the comedians including Ed Byrne, Marcus Brigstocke and Andrew Maxwell, very funny people. Congratulations to Monsieur Brigstocke and everyone involved in the organising. The event is planned again for next year and dates should be finalised soon. Visit www.altitudefestival.com for more information. Now we are finishing off the closing down of the Ski Hame chalets before they are all handed back to the owners. Once this has been done we can start looking forward to next winter. Expect a few changes to our chalet line up for 2008 2009, we should be able to reveal more within the week.Author David Ski Hame Date1/5/2008 Category Ski Hame news Comments(0)
The final month of the 2007/2008 Meribel ski season has started, there is still plenty of snow with over 2 metres on the top slopes and lots
This week we have seen the start of the British Land Ski Championships taking place on and above the stade de slalom. The racing will continue next week. Last week top UK band The Feeling put on a free concert outside the Rond Point. Rumours had been circulating for some time prior to the event and last Thursday it actually took place. A good crowd got to take part in some serious apres ski! The band were based out here in the 3 valleys earlier this century and it was nice to see them come back and put on the free show. The 3 Valley Rally was also held last week. This is a fun event held each season where teams of 4 set off at set intervals, passing through various checkpoints around the Trois Vallees before returning to the start at Jacks Bar. Each team must be made up of at least 1 female and a combination of boarders and skiers. Cheating is actively encouraged. Congratulations to Mike(Chalet Jean Marie) who was in the winning team. Finally a reminder that this weekend we see the start of the first Altitude Festival. It promises to be a great fortnight with some top acts lined up. A large marquee has been set up in the car park under the Olympe gondola already. Take a look at the website to see who is turning up(link on our homepage).Author David Ski Hame Date2/4/2008 Category Meribel & Ski Area news Comments(0)
We are already into March, the month of February passed in a bit of a blur here in Meribel. It is hard to believe that the season will be ov
We have had an excellent ski season so far, Meribel and the other Trois Vallees resorts have had great ski conditions from the beginning of the winter. As always February has passed by very quickly however the slopes have been a lot quieter than normal. It is difficult to work out why this should be, our chalets have been full as we would expect for this time of the year.Author David Ski Hame Date3/3/2008 Category Ski Hame news Comments(1)
